We hand turn our own legs here at Hunt Heritage Inc. We use more of a "freestyle" method without patterns or jigs. Each leg is one of a kind and varies slightly. We also have the capacity to turn special patterns. This leg stock is 5" square.
I really enjoy turning and the satisfaction of building tables from scratch. I have had a passion for woodworking since I can remember. My family was touring Highpoint, North Carolina on vacation when I was 3 or 4 and we stopped in a furniture manufacturing facility. I watched a craftsman turn a spindle and was amazed. It must have stuck with me after all those years to try it myself about 10 years ago. It seemed to come natural.
We start out with a roughing gouge and then cut the curves and shapes with several other lathe tools. We start sanding with 80 grit sand paper and finish up with 120. Thanks for your interest in our furniture. We strive with our utmost to give you the best tables and chairs that money can buy. We hope you will give us an opportunity to build you a table that will last many generations.
